Karachi: The leadership of the Businessmen’s Group and the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry have strongly protested against the unbearable increase in electricity rates.
According to the details, Chairman BMG Zubair Motiwala, Vice Chairman BMG Tahir Khaliq, Haroon Farooqui, Anjum Nisar and Javed Balwani, General Secretary AQ Khalil, President KCCI Muhammad Tariq Yousuf, Senior Vice President Tauseef Ahmed, Deputy President Haris Agar, Chairman of KCCI Special Committee for Small Traders Majeed Memon in a joint statement termed the current electricity rates as unworkable and appealed to the Caretaker Prime Minister that at the end of the meeting held in Quetta on Sunday, the Minister Announce withdrawal of unsustainable increase in electricity rates.
He said that BMG and KCCI had earlier rejected this exorbitant increase in electricity rates and once again urged the government to provide electricity in the larger interest of the nation and the economy. Immediately roll back the exorbitant hike in rates.
He further said that the Karachi Chamber has also called a meeting of all trade and industry associations and other stakeholders on Monday to formulate a future action plan to deal with the problem of electricity rates.
