The issue of President Arif Alvi not signing the Official Secrets Act and the Army Act Amendment Bill reached the Supreme Court.
A petition was filed in the Supreme Court for an investigation into the Official Secrets Act and the Army Act Amendment Bill issue.
The petition was filed by advocate Zulfiqar Bhatta and the federal government has been made a party.
The petition has requested that the government be ordered to approach the Supreme Court within 10 days to investigate the matter.
The implementation of the Official Secrets and Army Acts should be suspended pending the application.
The petition has taken the position that questions are being raised on the legislation after the President’s statement, the Official Secrets and the Army Amendment Act are directly related to the rights of the people.
It should be noted that on Sunday President Arif Alvi denied signing the Official Secrets Act and the Army Act Amendment Bill.
In a statement issued on the social networking site Twitter (X), President Alvi said that Allah is witness, I did not sign the Official Secrets Act and the Army Act Amendment Bill.
They said that I do not agree with these bills, I asked my staff to send back the bill without signature, I confirmed many times with the staff that the bills were sent back without signature.
Arif Alvi said that I found out today that my staff violated my will and order, Allah knows everything, I apologize to all those who will be affected by these bills.
