Korea is building an IT center near Karachi Airport, Consul General

Karachi: Consul General of Korea Yi Sung Hone has said that an IT center is being established near Karachi Airport.

Speaking at a meeting organized on the occasion of the visit of Karachi Chamber of Commerce, the Consul General of Korea Yi Sung Hone said that the Korean government is establishing an IT center near the Karachi Airport, with the completion of which young IT startups will be able to connect with this IT center and benefit from opportunities to work with Korea.

He said that the construction of a similar IT center has been completed in Islamabad, the Korean government is keen to help the development of Pakistan’s IT sector, there is a need to make strong policies to train and educate Pakistani youth in the IT sector and invest more in education and training.

The Korean Consul General said that considering the size of the two countries’ economies, the trade volume between Korea and Pakistan is very small. The Korean government encourages Pakistani workers to work in Korea, so we have increased the maximum quota for Pakistani workers to 4000 workers.

Earlier, KCCI President Tariq Yusuf said that despite immense commercial and economic potential, Pakistan’s exports to South Korea remained only $197 million in fiscal year 2022-23 compared to $206 million in fiscal year 2021-22.
