The Supreme Court disposed of the curative review petition against the nominated Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa on the basis of approval.

On April 10, the hearing on the petition to withdraw the curative review against Justice Qazi Faiz Isa was held in the chamber of Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandyal.
The current government had requested to withdraw the curative review against Justice Faiz Isa. Attorney General Mansoor Awan appeared in the chamber of Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial and informed about the federal government’s position regarding the withdrawal of the petition.
According to the order, 18 petitions were filed in the Supreme Court against the Curative Review Petition. The majority judgment quashed the ongoing directions of the FBR and the Supreme Judicial Council. The petitioner filed a chamber appeal against the objections of the Registrar’s Office.
Attorney General and Additional Attorney General appeared on behalf of the government.
The Supreme Court has the power to review the judgments passed by it or to declare them null and void, the Supreme Court has this power under Article 187 and 188 by taking notice of itself under Article 184 III.
The 10-member bench of the Supreme Court had dismissed the reference against Justice Faiz Isa, the 10-member bench had sent the matter to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for investigation on the basis of seven three.
The former government had filed a curative review against Justice Faiz Isa on May 25, 2021. The Registrar’s Office had objected that there was no scope for revision in the law.
On March 31, 2023, an application was filed to withdraw the curative review, the President approved the withdrawal of the curative review on the advice of the Prime Minister, on July 27, 2022, the federal cabinet approved the withdrawal of the curative review.
