Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has written a letter to the Election Commission to de-seat 28 of its local body representatives for not participating in the mayoral Karachi election.
In the letter, PTI has demanded the Election Commission to de-seat the defecting members. The letter includes the names of 28 members including Waseem Abdul Waheed, Tahir Parvez, Imran Parwani, Asad Aman, Sanobar Farhan and Uzair Siddiqui elected on specific seats. The name is also in the list.
The letter has been sent to the Election Commission by PTI’s parliamentary leader, Mubarshafeezullah Haq, in Baldia Uzma. In which it is said that the defecting members violated the party instructions. They demand the election commission to de-seat these members under the constitution.
It should be noted that Hafiz Naeemur Rehman was the joint candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf in the election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Karachi held on June 15, while Murtaza Wahab was the candidate of People’s Party, JUI and Muslim League-N.
Due to the absence of 31 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, People’s Party’s Murtaza Wahab was elected Mayor of Karachi with 173 votes while Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman got 160 votes.
