Karachi: The highest foreign direct investment in the financial year 2022-23 was made in the energy sector.
According to the details, during the last financial year, foreign investors invested 66 million dollars in the energy sector, of which 23 million 78 million dollars were invested in thermal power, 13 million 14 million dollars in hydel power, while 29 million dollars were invested in coal energy projects. The foreign direct investment in energy was 10 crore dollars less compared to the financial year 2021-22, the investment of the power sector in the financial year 2021-22 was 76 crore dollars, of which 14 crores were in thermal power, 18 crores in hydel power and coal. 44.13 million dollars were invested in power generation projects.

The volume of foreign investment in oil and gas exploration sector was 13 crore 51 lakh dollars which was 19 crore 48 lakh dollars in the financial year 2021-22.
In the communication sector, an investment of 15 crore 97 lakh dollars was made during the last financial year, which was 12 crore 37 lakh dollars in the financial year 2021-22.
