The meeting of Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly will be held today, the election of the Deputy Speaker will be carried out.
According to the schedule released by Secretary Assembly Abdul Razak, the meeting will be chaired by Speaker Nazir Ahmed Advocate.
Nomination papers for the post of Deputy Speaker will be received in the Assembly Secretariat till 12 noon today.
Scrutiny of papers will be held at 1 pm, while the election of the Deputy Speaker will be held at 3 pm. The result will be announced once the counting of votes is complete.
It should be noted that the post of Deputy Speaker fell vacant on June 7 when Nazir Ahmed Advocate was elected Speaker unopposed.
Former Speaker Syed Amjad Ali Zaidi was ousted by his party PTI on June 7 through a no-confidence motion.
