Russia’s intelligence agency FSB has claimed that it has foiled a plot to kill two Russian journalists by Ukraine.
The Federal Security Service (FSB) said it detained several people on Friday who had spied on the homes and offices of journalists Margarita Simonyan and Senia Sobchak, according to a foreign news agency.
The FSB said that the suspects in custody have confessed to planning the attack on the two female journalists in Emma, Ukraine.
Simonyan, head of Russia’s state-run media outlet Russia Today, responded to the assassination plot in a Telegram post and praised the security services.
Sobchak is a well-known journalist and host of a TV program.
Ukraine has not responded to the issue.
It should be remembered that last year, two Russian figures who supported Russia’s war in Ukraine, journalist Daria Dogina and military blogger Vladalin Tatarsky, were killed in bomb blasts in Russia.
Russia also blamed Ukraine for his murder, while Kiev denied the accusation.
In May this year, famous Russian writer Zakhar Perelpin was injured in a car bombing.
Investigators said the attacker has been arrested and has confessed to the attack on Emma from Ukraine.
