Lahore: Federal Minister Mian Javed Latif has said that caretaker government should not go beyond 90 days, if this happens, it will not be right.
Speaking in the center stage of the Express News program, the federal minister said that the election commission will not decide the election. He said that we want the assemblies to be dissolved two to three days earlier, while some friends want the government to be dissolved first.
He said that the decision to dissolve the assemblies will be made through consultation because according to the constitution, the term of the current assemblies is till August 13. The federal minister said that the caretaker government has to come for ninety days according to the constitution, the caretaker government should not go beyond ninety days, it will not be right to prolong it and it will not be in the interest of the country.
Javed Latif said that the constitution says that general elections should be held under the supervision of caretaker government. He said that Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s reservations were correct and they have been removed.
Javed Latif said that the new government will come from the people’s mandate, which will have to be respected by all.
