Heavy rains in India have broken a 45-year-old record of water levels in the Yamuna River.
With reference to the Indian Water Commission from New Delhi, the Indian media said that the water level in the Yamuna River has reached a height of 207.72 meters.
In this regard, the Indian Water Commission further says that in 1978, the water level in the Yamuna river reached 207.49 meters.
Meanwhile, New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has instructed people to move from the low-lying areas.
Indian media say that dozens of boats have been brought to the city for emergency situations.
Chief Minister Kejriwal said that the water in Delhi is coming from the Indian states of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.
He said that we have requested the Modi government to keep the flow of water to Delhi low.
Kejriwal said that the increase of water in Yamuna river can be stopped only by reducing the flow of water towards Delhi.
