During the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regime, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) dealt with the matter of giving 3 billion dollars interest-free loans to 628 people.
Sources say that a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee was held under the chairmanship of Chairman Noor Alam Khan in which this matter was dealt with.
Sources said that Chairman PAC suggested handing over the matter to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Some members opposed handing over the matter to NAB and FIA.
After opposition from the members, the issue of interest free loan of 628 individuals was settled. The members opined that handing over the matter to NAB and FIA will have a negative impact on the industrial sector.
The Governor State Bank provided details to the committee in an in-camera meeting, the names of the lending banks were not provided in the details.
The details did not provide the names of the borrowers, only the names of the companies.
