California: Google, the technology company that recently announced the creation of a computer that works faster than modern supercomputers, is now using Med-PALM 2 (Med-PALM 2) at the Mayo Clinic and other hospitals.Med-PaLM 2) is testing artificial intelligence chat technology.
The technology is based on the company’s PALM2 Large Language Model (LLM), launched at the Google I/O event, which underpins ChatGPT’s rival Google Bard.
According to reports published in international media, unlike the base model, Med-PaLM 2 is trained with questions and answers from medical licensing exams and is informed by practical demonstrations by medical professionals who use the model. Skilled in answering health-related questions, this model can also handle labor-intensive tasks such as document summarization and research data organization.
During the I/O event, Google released a paper detailing Med-PaLM2.
According to Google, the innovative model could be critical in countries with limited access to doctors. However, the company admits that the technology is still in its early stages.
On the other hand, Microsoft is also building an artificial intelligence medical chatbot based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT, for which the tech giant has joined hands with healthcare software company Epic.
In March this year, it was reported by Google that the company is working on using its artificial intelligence technology for ultrasound diagnosis and cancer therapy.
