Cambridgeshire: Generally, people are very reluctant to clean the house, but a study found that cleaning the kitchen for 50 minutes can burn more calories (heat) than cycling.
According to research, cleaning the kitchen burns an average of 276 calories, while cleaning the bathroom burns 173 calories and cleaning the bedroom burns 154 calories.
In the study, 10 professional cleaners wore Fitbits (an electronic device worn on the wrist to count steps and measure heart rate) and were given the task of cleaning five homes.
The data collected showed that an average of 50 minutes of cleaning the kitchen can burn more calories than an hour of cycling.
However, this exercise may not help with weight loss because it moves fewer muscles than other exercises.
According to Joe Mitten, a trainer from the British county of Cambridgeshire, instead of bending down to clean, we should try to clean sitting upright.
