Karachi: A full-scale emergency response exercise was conducted at Gilgit Airport, in which personnel from all relevant agencies participated.
According to the CAA spokesperson, all stakeholders including CAA, ASF, PIA, Red Crescent, Rescue 1122, City Fire Bridge, Local Police and Key Point Police participated in the full-scale emergency exercise. ‘ also participated.
The mock exercise started with an emergency report from the tower to the fire station about a fire in an aircraft on the runway.
The ASF cordoned off the airside area while the police cordoned off the security fence from outside. Soon, Red Crescent Rescue Ambulances and City Fire Services teams from outside the airport also reached the spot.
CAA, PIA and Red Crescent set up a public information counter in the concourse hall, all stakeholders played their role as per ‘Crisis and Emergency Response Plan’ (CERP).
According to the airport manager, these exercises make us ready to deal with any unexpected situation. At the end of the exercise, the airport manager thanked all the stakeholders and volunteers for their active participation in the exercise.
