New Delhi: The panchayat elections in West Bengal became the worst example of violence and bloodshed in which 18 people were killed and many injured.

According to Indian media, elections were held on 73 thousand 887 seats for Zilla Parishads, Gram Panchayats and Panchayat Samiti in the state of West Bengal. Out of the 61,000 to 636 booths, most of the disputes resulted in riots and bloodshed.

Bloody clashes took place especially in Cooch Behar, Murshidabad, Nadia and South Parganas. There were also bomb blasts at many polling stations. The candidates also accused each other of stealing ballot boxes.

By justifying the violent incidents, the state’s opposition and the ruling BJP at the center demanded the imposition of President’s rule in West Bengal. He also accused the state government of tarnishing West Bengal’s global identity as a center of culture and awareness.

The All India Trinamool Congress, the ruling party of West Bengal, has blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party for the riots, saying that the Modi government is dreaming of power in West Bengal, for which it has not stopped using violence.

It should be noted that despite BJP’s desperate efforts in the elections, the victory of All India Trinamool Congress, the ruling party of West Bengal, is clear.
