Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique announced to proceed with Main Line (ML) 1 project on priority basis.
A meeting was held at Railway Headquarters Lahore under the chairmanship of Khawaja Saad Rafiq, in which the progress on connectivity from Karachi Port Terminal to Paper Yard was reviewed.
The Railway Minister further said that the ML-1 project is the backbone of the railways, which has to be taken forward on a priority basis.
He directed that a strategy should be developed to make the production units of the railways profitable, private investors should also be given opportunities to join the production units.
The federal minister also said that the freight transportation company has to take all possible steps to increase revenue.
He said that railway companies have to increase revenue by getting business from private projects as well.
