The Lahore High Court suspended the Election Commission’s order to de-notify 43 members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) assembly.
A hearing was held in the Lahore High Court against accepting the resignation of 43 members of the National Assembly who resigned from PTI.
Justice Shahid Karim heard the request of 43 ex-members of the assembly including Riaz Fatiana.
The Lahore High Court suspended the order of the Election Commission and suspended the by-elections in 43 constituencies until further notice.
The court issued a notice to the Election Commission and other parties and sought their response.
PTI’s lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar argued that the legal requirements for accepting the resignation were not fulfilled.

Barrister Ali Zafar said that the Speaker did not conduct an inquiry under the Constitution before accepting the resignation.
The PTI lawyer said that the MLAs did not appear before the Speaker to accept the resignations, the Speaker cannot accept the resignations without hearing the members.
It should be noted that last month the Election Commission of Pakistan de-notified 43 members of the National Assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The resignations of these 43 members of PTI were accepted by Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf and sent to the Election Commission.
