Portuguese authorities have announced that they are updating the online visa application platform to avoid the limited number of applications and long waits for space.
This was announced by Portuguese Communities Secretary Paulo Caifo while informing the Portuguese Parliament, saying that these changes are necessary to ease the difficulties of all foreigners who intend to come here for any reason.
Regarding the difficulties faced by Portuguese consulates abroad and the questions faced by the deputies, Paulo Caifo said that the government plans to hire another 100 new staff on contract by the end of the year to process the applications. Can be done with ease and without delay.
As reported by Schengen Visa Info.com, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal has explained that the new features of the visa portal include single registration.
Once registered, everyone will be able to change their password, edit their personal data, fill the required questionnaire to determine the type of visa and attach their required documents.
Everyone applying for a Portugal Schengen visa must ensure to submit the required documents. All Schengen visa applicants to Portugal are required to complete a visa application form, submit two passport photos, copies of their valid passports and previous visas.
In addition, each applicant must submit a round-trip flight itinerary, proof of accommodation booking, proof of financial means, a cover letter, proof of citizenship and proof of purchase of travel health insurance.
Additional documents, such as an employment contract and income tax return, are also required depending on the applicant’s status.
