New York: UN chief Antonio Guterres has warned Israel that the use of force and increased violence against Palestinians will not reduce its problems.

According to the World News Agency, the Israeli army expressed concern over the martyrdom of 12 Palestinian youths and injured around 150 during the search operation in the Jenin refugee camp and demanded Israel to refrain from unnecessary use of force.

Speaking to the media in New York, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the use of excessive force by Israeli forces could lead to a new cycle of bloodshed and violence.

Antonio Guterres added that Israel’s security concerns are valid, but increasing violence is not the solution. Israel’s gratuitous violence will strengthen radicalism.

Emphasizing a political solution through negotiations, the UN Secretary General said that only a meaningful political process can restore hope to the Palestinian people. A two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is essential, which will end the concept of occupation.
