Sixth citizen died from brain-eating bacteria Nigellaria

Karachi: The deadly mind-eating germ Nigleria has become active again in the city of Quaid, the Sindh Health Department has confirmed the sixth death in Karachi due to Nigleria, medical experts have advised citizens to add chlorine to their water tanks.

According to DG Health Services Karachi Abdul Hameed Jumani, a 21-year-old resident of DHA was brought to a private hospital on June 18 in a state of fever. The youth had taken a bath in the swimming pool of a private defense academy.

There have been 6 deaths from Nigellaria in Karachi so far, four of them are from Karachi, one death in Quetta and one death in Hyderabad. Last year, the brain-eating germ has killed five people.

According to medical experts, the symptoms of nigella include headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, neck stiffness, altered mental status and seizures. Nigellaria folarii is a brain-eating amoeba, it can be easily killed by chlorine, add chlorine to municipal water tanks.
