Moscow: A Russian female journalist who spoke out against extrajudicial killings in Chechnya was tortured, breaking her fingers and being hospitalized.
According to the World News Agency, Elenia Malashina, a Russian journalist and human rights activist working for the independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta, was attacked on her way to court.
It should be noted that female journalist Elena Malashina was forced to leave Russia in 2022. She was a strong critic of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov and is considered the strongest voice against extrajudicial killings and executions in Chechnya.
Unknown persons took Elena Malashina out of the car and tortured her. Her hair was cut and she was disfigured by throwing a green substance on her face which made the female journalist unconscious.
Elena Malashina suffered deep wounds on her body and her fingers were broken. The female journalist was admitted to the hospital where she is undergoing treatment and is currently in a state of shock.
The human rights organization claimed that the torturers even threatened to kill the female journalist.
