Taliban order to close beauty parlors

Afghan women are protesting for access to education and employment.

The Taliban has banned beauty parlors in Afghanistan, a government spokesman announced.

A spokesman for the Taliban government’s ministry, Mohammad Siddiq Akif Mohajer, did not give details of the ban but confirmed the text of an order circulating on social media.

According to the post issued on June 24, these orders have been issued by Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhunzada.

In the post, beauty parlors in Kabul and all provinces have been given one month’s time to complete their work. In one month, the beauty parlors will be closed and a report will be sent to the government.

The reasons for the ban were not given in the post, government spokesperson Akif Mahajir said once the parlors are closed, then we will tell the reason to the media.
