Promotion of officers, Sindh government reluctant to implement court orders

The Sindh government has been reluctant to implement the orders of the Sindh High Court regarding the promotions of 5 government officers for several weeks.

The Sindh Government’s promotion to Grade 21 against these officers was challenged in the Sindh High Court.

A bench comprising Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Adnan Al Karim Memon of the Sindh High Court on June 6 dismissed Imtiaz Ali Shah, Makhdoom Shakeel-uz-Zaman, Danish Saeed, Chiraguddin Hanguro and Saeed Ahmed Awan, who were working as MD Sindh Solid Waste. Promotions in Grade 21 were declared illegal.

According to the Sindh High Court’s decision, the officers recruited in Grade 17 without competitive examination did not pass 2 departmental examinations later.

The Sindh High Court had issued orders to withdraw the promotions of these five officers immediately.

On behalf of the double bench of the Sindh High Court, the Chief Secretary Sindh was asked to submit a report on the implementation of the orders in the court within 15 days, but it has not been implemented yet.

There was no response to Chief Secretary Sindh and MD Solid Waste Imtiaz Ali Shah when contacted for a statement.

On behalf of this correspondent, Imtiaz Ali Shah’s mobile phone was contacted, which was switched off, while queries on WhatsApp were also not answered.

In the recent past, these five officers have been appointed in attractive positions with the approval of the Sindh government.
