23 years have passed since folk singer Alan Faqir left his fans

Karachi: It has been 23 years since presidential medal winning folk singer Alan Faqir left his fans.

According to Express News, the style in which Alan Faqir, dressed in the traditional dress of Sindh, presented Sufi poetry through his unique singing is a clear proof of his love for Sufi poetry. His singing was already popular in Sindh. But the song with singer Muhammad Ali Shahaki made Alan’s fame skyrocket.

Hearing Latifi Raag, Alan Faqir used to be in a state of ecstasy, that is why he took up residence at the shrine of the famous Sufi sage Shah Abdul Latif. Bhittai’s Kalam started to be sung.

In recognition of his services, the government awarded him the Presidential Medal for Excellence in 1980. He also received Shah Abdul Latif Award, Shahbaz and Kandhkot Awards.

Alan Faqir became ill and passed away on July 4, 2000 after being treated at a local hospital in Karachi. His services to mystic and folk music will always be remembered.
