Why not make DGSBCA responsible for illegal constructions? High Court
Karachi: Sindh High Court ordered to appear before DGSBCA regarding illegal constructions in District Central.
The High Court has issued a written order regarding illegal constructions in District Central. The court raised questions on the performance of the Sindh Building Control Authority.
In the written order, the court inquired as to why the SBCA is failing to stop the illegal constructions. Why not make DGSBCA responsible for illegal constructions?
According to the written order, the court has said that if the illegal constructions are not removed, DGSBCA will be responsible for violating the order. The SB to A report states that a committee was formed to identify those responsible for not stopping illegal constructions.
The court has ordered that before the next hearing, if the responsible parties are not determined, then all the members of the committee should appear in court.
The court also found the DG’s report unsatisfactory and said that the report did not mention how long the illegal constructions would be demolished. Why were their gas, electricity and water connections not terminated? Why is there a need for another force despite having a dedicated police station for SBCA? All these explanations should be part of the report. Illegal constructions should be demolished before the next hearing.
The court ordered DG Sindh Building Control Authority to appear in person on July 17.
