Lahore: It has been 44 years since Alam Lohar, the original emperor of Pakistan folk music, was separated from his millions of fans.
Today is the 44th birth anniversary of renowned folk singer Alam Lohar, who played jagni and created a world-wide sensation. Born on March 1, 1928 in Gujarat, Alam Lohar started singing at an early age, his unique style of singing, colorful clothes and hand grips, all these became the hallmark of Alam Lohar.
Alam Lohar sang whatever he sang in folk singing, Heer Waris Shah, he made a name for himself. Alam Lohar used to present Sufi words in decorated fairs all over Punjab in such a way that the listeners would be enthralled.
Alam Lohar’s tongs became his identity, he used to play tongs and perform live for many hours. Arif Lohar, the son of a well-known folk artist, is also following in the footsteps of his father, and is striving for the good name of the country and nation around the world.
Alam Lohar represented Pakistan in the 70s in England, Canada, Norway and Germany among other countries, he was awarded many awards for his artistic services including Pride of Performance.
Alam Lohar died in a traffic accident near Shamke Bhatian on July 3, 1979, but he is still alive in the hearts of his fans because of his art.
