Chisinau: A border force officer and an airport security employee were shot dead by a gunman at the airport in the capital of the Eastern European country of Moldova.
According to the international news agency, the airport administration did not allow a person to enter the country, on which he got angry, snatched the weapon from the security officer and opened fire.
Two people were killed and one was seriously injured in the firing.
The airport security force detained the 43-year-old shooter with injuries while all flights at the airport were suspended. The arrested person is said to be from Tajikistan.
The shooting passenger had arrived in Moldova from Istanbul and became enraged when he was being sent back to Istanbul after failing to provide a solid reason for coming to Moldova.
The police ruled out the possibility of an element of terrorism in the incident, saying that according to the initial investigation, it was an individual act out of anger and excitement.
It should be noted that the Eastern European country of Moldova declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 and is pushing to join the European Union.
