Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says that Iran’s membership of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be formally approved at the proposed meeting on July 4.
This was announced by the Russian Foreign Minister in his speech at the opening ceremony of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Center in Moscow.
He said that a memorandum of understanding will be signed with Belarus to join the organization, through which it will later become a permanent member of the SCO.
Sergei Lavrov said that the SCO would welcome new negotiating partners from Europe to the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
It should be remembered that Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan signed the declaration in June 2001 to form the SCO, now Pakistan and India are also included in this organization.
