Former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Eid-ul-Adha, calling the agreement with the IMF an important news for Pakistan. He says that the Prime Minister’s efforts and talking to MDIMF proved effective.
On the IMF deal, Miftah Ismail said in a statement that the new one-year deal worth $3 billion has been agreed at the staff level, the IMF deal is the best insurance against default.
He said that, God willing, now the clouds of default will disappear, dollar hoarding will be reduced, and there will be a pleasant improvement in the business environment.
Miftah Ismail added that we lost 9 months in signing the agreement, but Pakistan has stabilized, the entire team’s effort is commendable.
He said that the IMF agreement is another opportunity for fundamental reforms, without reforms we will remain dependent on friendly countries, Pakistanis will continue to pay the price for the failure of their governance structure.
