Chinese Defense Minister Li Shengfu says that China is ready for high-level military communication and cooperation with Vietnam.
In a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart in Beijing, Li Sheng said that the international situation is getting worse and worse, with the Asia-Pacific region facing security challenges.
He said that China and Vietnam need to work together in the journey of cooperation, both countries should protect their strategic interests and play their role for regional peace and stability.
The Chinese Defense Minister said that better relations have been established between the forces of the two countries, which the Chinese army is ready to take to the next stage.
The two leaders met at a time when the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan docked at the Vietnamese port of Danang on Sunday.
This is the third time since the end of the Vietnam War that the US aircraft carrier fleet has come to Vietnam.
