55 cars and trucks collided on a highway in central China, killing 16 people and injuring 66 others.
According to foreign media, this incident happened yesterday on a busy highway in China’s Hunan province, where 55 vehicles, including trucks, collided. As a result, 16 people were killed and 66 injured while 5 vehicles were also completely destroyed.
The accident started with a collision between two vehicles in which 7 people were killed on the spot, after which the vehicles collided one after another. Along with this, the death toll has increased to 16 while the condition of 8 out of 66 injured is said to be critical.
As soon as the accident was reported, the rescue teams reached the spot. 180 aid workers participated in the rescue operations. Rescue teams shifted the dead and injured to hospital and cleared the highway by removing the wreckage of the vehicles.
According to the report, there were more delivery trucks in various cities that suffered accidents. China’s Ministry of Emergency Management has ordered an investigation into the cause of the accident.
