Dubai: The owner of a construction company in the United Arab Emirates has been fined 200,000 dirhams (Pakistan 83.8 million and 54 thousand) for not paying salaries to employees for two months.
According to Arab media, the Dubai construction company was fined by the Labor Court. According to the court order, the penalty amount will be distributed equally among 250 employees. An employee will receive 5 thousand dirhams.
In its decision, the Labor Court warned the owners of the companies to comply with the laws of the country and make timely payment of the employees’ salaries in all possible cases.
After the court decision, the legal advisor of the Labor Court said that the employees should inform immediately in case of non-payment of salaries. Their rights will be protected.
It should be noted that the case against the company was filed by the employees in the Labor Court.
During the hearing, the owner of the company had taken the position that it could not pay the salaries of the employees due to continuous losses and bad financial conditions.
