It was announced that more than 1500 prisoners will be released before Eid al-Adha in the United Arab Emirates.
According to Arab media, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum ordered the release of 650 prisoners of different nationalities from Dubai prisons, while President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also ordered the release of 988 prisoners before Eid al-Adha.
Dubai Attorney General Essam Isa Al Hamidan has said that Sheikh Mohammed’s order is a manifestation of his desire to share happiness with the prisoners’ families, to give them a chance to start a new life and reintegrate into society.
According to Arab media, every year in the UAE before Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, hundreds of prisoners imprisoned for minor crimes are released after amnesty.
