Lahore: FIA has arrested a gang for withdrawing crores of rupees from citizens’ bank accounts online.
According to the details, FIA Cyber Crime Circle Gujranwala arrested the two ringleaders of the group for withdrawing crores of rupees online from the bank accounts of citizens.
The accused used to send gifts to various citizens by posing as fake representatives of the courier company and fraudulently attached the citizens’ thumbs in the name of receiving the gifts.
The accused would later change these thumbs from paper to silicon thumbs and then extract the duplicate SIMs of the account holders with the help of thumbs.
The accused used to activate internet banking of the account holders using the said SIM and wipe the account.
The mastermind of the gang, Chaudhry Jalilur Rehman, was arrested from Faisalabad. Accused Chaudhry Jalil revealed that the bank used to provide data to gang members to activate internet banking. Accused Atif Nazir was performing duty as a branch manager in a private bank.
Cyber Crime Circle Gujranwala has arrested both the masterminds and started the action.
