The European Union will provide special assistance to Ukraine to clear landmines from areas vacated by Russia.

This was announced by EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell during a visit to the region.

While talking to the journalists, he said that the mines have been laid by the Russian army on their way back from the occupied territories of Ukraine.

In order to prevent human lives from future accidents, it is necessary to clear mines from these areas. The European Union will provide funds for this.

He announced that the first installment of 25 million euros is being released immediately.
