The budget of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for the financial year 2023-24 has been presented.

The budget session of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly started with a delay of 3 hours which was presided over by Speaker Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar.

In the meeting, Fatiha was recited for those who died in the Yunnan boat accident.

On the occasion of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed’s birthday, prayers for forgiveness were also offered in the assembly session.

Finance Minister Colonel Retired Waqar Ahmed Noor said that the House strongly condemns the events of May 9.

Azad Kashmir Finance Minister Colonel Retired Waqar Ahmad Noor while presenting the budget said that the total budget has been set at more than 232 billion rupees.

  • With the support of the federal government, the budget has been increased by 67 billion rupees.
  • 35 billion rupees have been kept for pension in the budget.
  • 1 trillion 90 billion rupees have been allocated for the non-development budget.
  • 1 billion 67 crore rupees have been allocated for the Board of Revenue.
  • 42 billion for the development budget, 190 billion for the non-development budget.
  • In the development budget, 30 billion rupees will be received from the federal government while 12 billion rupees will be received from our own resources.
  • The development budget has been increased by 47% compared to the previous financial year.
  • The education budget has been increased from 2 billion to 4 billion rupees.
  • 3 billion rupees have been allocated for health from 1.8 billion rupees.
  • It has been proposed to increase the budget of the local government from 2 billion 80 crores to 3 billion 70 crore rupees.
  • The budget for projects related to climate change has been increased from Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore.
