The budget for the new financial year of Azad Jammu and Kashmir will be presented in the Legislative Assembly today.
A few hours before the presentation of the budget, the notification for the appointment of retired Colonel Waqar Ahmed Noor as the Finance Minister has been issued.
According to the budget documents, the total size of the budget for the new financial year has been kept at more than 232 billion rupees, 42 billion rupees have been allocated for the development budget and 190 billion rupees for the non-development budget.
In the development budget, 30 billion will be obtained from the federal government and 12 billion from our own resources.
The development budget has been increased by 47% compared to the previous financial year.
According to the documents, the education budget has been increased from 2 billion to 4 billion rupees, while the allocation for health has been increased from 1.8 billion to 3 billion rupees.
A proposal to increase the local government budget from 2 billion 80 crores to 3 billion 70 crores has been included in the budget.
According to the budget documents, the budget for projects related to climate change has been increased from Rs 10 crore to Rs 15 crore.
