Karachi: The University of Karachi Teachers Association has said that the Secretary Universities and Boards and the Director of Finance are destroying the University of Karachi together, they will protest if they are not removed by July 5.
This was said by the president of the Anjuman-i-Teachers University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Saleha Rehman, secretary of the Anjuman Faizan Naqvi, Ghafran Alam and others while addressing a press conference at the staff club of the University of Karachi on Tuesday.
The University of Karachi Teachers Association has said that there is a nexus between the Secretary Universities and Boards and the Director of Finance University of Karachi in Sindh. Payments have not been made.
He said that the term of the post of Director of Finance was completed last year, but on the recommendation of the Secretary Universities and Boards, he has been seated in Karachi University. Teachers will protest.
The teachers association said that the Sindh government has increased the grant of the universities, but the Sindh government is not serious in appointing an expert and qualified director of finance in the University of Karachi, while the Secretary Universities and Boards has awarded the same unqualified director of finance with the best performance award. Their financial irregularities and mismanagement are on the rise.
The leaders said that the Director of Finance has retired from the Sindh Government on April 3, 2023, while he cannot be re-appointed under court orders.
It was told in the press conference that the director is holding the finance contract but still taking medical allowance from University of Karachi which is illegal, besides he is receiving 52 thousand rupees as monthly allowance from various centers of University of Karachi. .
The leaders said that all this is happening at the behest of the Secretary Universities and Boards, the largest university of Sindh is being destroyed by the Secretary Universities and Boards and the Director of Finance, the contingency of the office of the Director of Finance is Rs 1 lakh while The contingencies of the sectors do not meet for two months.
The leaders said that the university is running without a budget. In the previous syndicate, the director of finance presented a one-page budget, which was strongly objected to by the members of the syndicate and the budget could not be approved.
The leaders further said that on June 23, the meeting of the finance director of all the universities was called by the secretary universities and boards, and the autonomy of the universities has been dealt a blow.
