A Canadian military helicopter crashed in eastern Ontario early this morning. Two Air Force officers on board the helicopter are missing and the search is on.
The Department of National Defense says four Air Force officers were on board a CH147 Chinook helicopter when it crashed near the Ontario River, 160 kilometers from the capital Ottawa.
According to the department, the four officers were part of the training flight, the rescue team recovered two officers and shifted them to the hospital but two are still missing.
The Department of Defense said 50 members of the Canadian Armed Forces were searching for the two missing officers at sea and on land.
Along with the armed forces, the Ontario Provincial Police Marine Unit, the Fire Department and several other military rescue aircraft are also participating in the search operation.
The Defense Department asked the boatmen not to operate boats near the military base of Garrison Petawa so that the evidence of the missing personnel at the scene is not destroyed and the search process can continue properly.
