Bail of Shah Mehmood and Asad Umar rejected, written decision issued

The District and Sessions Court Islamabad has issued a detailed decision to dismiss the bail application of Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar in the case filed in Tarnool police station.

Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra issued a 3-page detailed judgment.

In the verdict, the court declared that after the arrest of the Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), 250 to 300 protesters blocked GT Road. The protesters raised anti-government slogans and attacked the police.

The written decision said that according to the protesters, the protest took place at the behest of Chairman PTI, party leader Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The court declared that the protesters injured the police and damaged government vehicles.

The verdict said that no one has the right to harm state facilities and government representatives. On May 9, protests broke out across the country that were not peaceful and turned violent.

It also said that law enforcement agencies and military installations were attacked as planned.

The judgment said that after a complete investigation, it will be known how the violent incident took place.

The court declared that Asad Umar and Shah Mehmood Qureshi are named in the case whose roles are clear.

It also said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Asad Umar are senior officials in the party. Both tweets show that the public was incited against the state.

The investigation is yet to be completed and in the present situation it would not be right to grant bail, it is a constitutional right to protest but the state can restrict the protest.
