UNESCO, the main organization of the United Nations, has recognized the biodiversity of Pakistan.
According to the report, 11 biological reserves have been finalized worldwide, of which 2 are in Pakistan.
The decision to finalize these 11 reserves was taken at the UNESCO meeting in Paris.
In this regard, UNESCO says that 2 new reserves in Pakistan have increased the total of 748 sites in 134 countries.
Both designated sites in Pakistan are located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, these sites include Glaze Biosphere Reserve and Chitral Garm Chashma Biosphere Reserve.
Chitral Hot Springs Biosphere Site sustains a population of rare species, including Kashmiri Markhor, Siberian Ibex, Ladakh Uriel and Snow Leopard.
This includes the unique culture of Chitral along with the many languages Kalasha and Kalashmam.
Glaze Biosphere Reserve is located near the city of Abbottabad, various types of infrastructure have been developed to attract tourists.
