Officials from Afghanistan’s Taliban government visited Norway this week, where they participated in a peace forum.
Taliban officials met with civil society representatives and diplomats.
A two-day annual summit on diplomacy in war and peace was held in Oslo.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Heutfeldt said that Norway had invited three bureaucrat-level officials working for the Afghan government to the Oslo Forum.
He said that the Afghan officials met the civil society representatives and discussed the situation in the country.
He said that the isolation of Afghanistan will be unfortunate for the Afghan people and the international community, it may worsen the situation in Afghanistan and thus ISIS will strengthen its foothold in the country, which will increase the dangers for Europe.
A UN official said that the Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Rosa Otunbayeva met with Afghan officials in a closed-door meeting.
According to Afghanistan’s broadcaster Tolo News, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Defense and Interior traveled to Norway.
