Minister of State for Finance Ayesha Ghos Pasha has said that the IMF has questioned many things.
While talking to the media in Islamabad, Ayesha Ghos Pasha said that Ishaq Dar has had a virtual conversation with IMF Mission Chief Nathan Porter, IMF has asked for clarification on some things regarding the budget.
Ayesha Ghos Pasha said that the IMF is concerned about the issue of expenditure and taxes, the IMF has been briefed on the budget strategy and vision.
He said that he has told the IMF that the purpose of the budget is to bring economic growth, discussions are being held with the World Financial Institution at a strategic level while there will be more technical discussions on other figures including expenditure.
The Minister of State for Finance said that the IMF will also discuss with the Power Division and State Bank officials, the IMF will discuss with the State Bank on the exchange rate and the policy rate.
He said that the government will not take any step except for economic stability, it has not decided to increase the petroleum levy, only the law has kept the scope.
Ayesha Ghos Pasha also said that if necessary, she will increase or decrease the rate of petroleum levy.
