At least 50 people have died and many are missing after an overloaded boat capsized in the north-central region of Nigeria.
According to foreign media, the wooden boat was going to the other side of the river to Kwara State with a procession after a wedding ceremony in Niger State when the accident occurred.
Foreign media say it is not yet known how many people were on board the boat, but Kwara State officials say there were people from 5 villages on board.
According to officials, rescue operations are underway to find the drowned people.
On the other hand, the Governor of Kwara State expressed his grief over the deaths in the boat accident and condoled with the bereaved.
