Danger of Buparjoy, Prime Minister's directive to ensure safety of people


Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif directed the concerned authorities to ensure the complete evacuation of people from the coastal areas in view of the possible storm, while ensuring the safety of the people by utilizing all resources.

A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister on the possible situation arising from Cyclone Baparjoy, in which the Prime Minister was briefed on the measures taken in view of the possible storm.

Federal Ministers Sherry Rehman, Ishaq Dar, Khurram Dastgir, Minister of State Mossadegh Malik, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Chief Secretaries of Sindh and Balochistan participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the Sindh government, NDMA and other organizations should ensure the establishment of mobile hospitals in the coastal areas.

He said that adequate management of emergency medical assistance should be ensured in the potentially affected areas.

The Prime Minister directed that in view of the storm, special provision of clean drinking water and food should be made in the campus of displaced persons.

The Prime Minister directed Energy Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan to remain in the districts of southern Sindh until the effects of the cyclone are over.

During the meeting, it was informed that the cyclone is likely to hit Kati Bandar on June 15, with the cyclone expected to dissipate completely within three days.

The meeting was informed that more than 50 thousand people are being relocated from the coastal areas, the displaced people are being accommodated in government buildings, temporary camps.

It was also informed in the meeting that food, tents, mosquito nets and clean drinking water are being provided in the camps.
