Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat and South Korea’s Ambassador to Egypt Kim Yong-hyun sign the agreement.

A $460 million contract was signed between Egypt and South Korea for the metro train in Cairo.

According to the Ministry of International Cooperation of Egypt, under the agreement, 40 trains containing 320 bogies will be provided to Egypt.

The Economic Development Cooperation Fund of Korea will finance these trains.

Most of the train’s bogies will be imported directly from South Korea, while others will be produced locally by Egypt’s National Railway Industries Company and South Korea’s Hyundai.

The two companies had agreed to set up a joint manufacturing plant to be built in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.

5 thousand Egyptian citizens will be provided jobs in this plant.
