Peshawar: In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the quarterly interim budget will be presented for the second time in 5 years.
According to the details, due to the absence of an elected government and provincial assembly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, preparations are being made to present an interim budget of 4 months instead of the whole year.
This exercise has been done five years ago, in which the then caretaker Chief Minister Justice (R) Dost Muhammad Khan’s government presented a budget of 198 billion 90 crore rupees which was effective from July to October 2018, while in October Tehreek-e-Insaf’s Mahmood Khan Another 8 months budget was presented by the government.
After five years, once again due to the absence of an elected government and provincial assembly in the province, the caretaker government is going to present the budget for the next financial year.
A 12-month budget is being prepared for the next financial year by the caretaker government of Muhammad Azam Khan, but the provincial cabinet will approve a 4-month budget, which is likely to be more than 500 billion.
More than 120 billion is being allocated for development works in the four-month budget for a period of four months, consultations are going on regarding the increase of 30 to 35 percent in the salary of government employees and 17.5 percent in pension according to the center.
The province will decide according to its financial resources, the final approval will be given by the provincial supervisory cabinet. The budget for the next financial year, which was supposed to be presented on June 14 or 15, is likely to be delayed and may now be presented in the third week.
