Tokyo: The Cabinet of Japan has approved the plan to issue long-term work visas for foreign workers.

According to Japanese media, a plan to increase the number of foreign workers in a number of industries has been approved by offering long-term work visas to skilled foreign workers to address the country’s acute labor shortage.

In the cabinet, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida emphasized the need for foreign workers in Japan and said that the presence of foreign workers is indispensable to overcome the severe shortage of workers in the country.

He also said that the approved scheme extends to 11 major industries including fishing, agriculture, and hotels sectors while the scheme allows Class 1 visa holders to apply for long-term residence. also makes The plan will go into effect this fall.
