The federal government has provided an amount of 107 billion rupees for the improvement of electricity production, transmission and distribution in the budget of the new financial year.
The production capacity of electricity in the country has reached 41 thousand megawatts.
In the power sector, an amount of Rs. 12 billion will be provided in the next fiscal year for the completion of coal-fired Jamshoro Power Plant (1200 MW).
16 billion rupees have been allocated to advance the project of 500 kW transmission line between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
5 billion rupees for improving the capacity of existing grid stations of NTDC, 13 billion rupees for transmission of electricity from Ski Kanari, Kohala and Mahal hydro plants.
In the budget 2023-24, it has been proposed to provide 6 billion rupees for transmission of electricity from Dasu Hydropower Plant.
