Vatican City: The head of the Catholic Church and the religious leader of the Roman Catholic Christians, Pope Francis, has been admitted to the hospital, where he will undergo a hernia operation.
According to Western media reports, the 86-year-old Pope had not issued any prior statement that he would enter the hospital for surgery.
On Wednesday morning, he took a car from the Vatican City and reached the nearby Gemelli Hospital, where a suite had been reserved for him on the tenth floor.
This is the third time since his election that the Christian religious leader has been hospitalized due to health problems.
After the Pope entered the hospital, a statement from the Vatican said that Pope Francis’ hernia will be operated on in the hospital. After the surgery, Pope Francis will stay in the hospital until he recovers and his stay could be several days longer.
